Yes, it is Bread we fight for—but we fight for Roses, too.
Hello Friend,
Let’s keep rolling on the theme of radical love.
Beauty is not a luxury. Beauty is not reserved only for some people. Beauty is for all of us.
You deserve beauty in your life. We all do.
At my core I believe this, and I also have a hard time throwing the word “deserve” around because it can suggest something ought to be earned. And I know a few of you struggle with the word deserve, too. So I want to be clear about what we mean. Or don’t mean.
Do you know about Bread and Roses? I will spare you a drawn-out history lesson, head to the wiki for more info. Dave and I are DEEP into folk music and we first heard about Bread and Roses from a Utah Philips recording. The words from the Oppenheim poem have settled into our bones:
Hearts starve as well as bodies: Give us Bread, but give us Roses.
Yes, it is Bread we fight for—but we fight for Roses, too.
Roses and flowers are life. Beauty and art are for everyone. You deserve beauty in your life. We all do.
Maybe we haven’t been treated like we deserve good things. Maybe we believe that we shouldn’t indulge. Maybe we can challenge those ideas.
We grow beauty. Absolutely gorgeous flowers. Seriously, they are the best you can get. So beautiful, tall, and they last forever. We craft a curated collection. Stunning specimens, sensational combos. The best colors and textures. You would think they were grown with harmful pesticides because they are so lovely - but they’re NOT. They’re grown with love.
We love the flowers but the most magical thing is YOU loving the flowers.
So please take them into your homes and hearts and love them.
Maybe for you it isn’t flowers. Whatever it is, radiate in the beauty that is around you. Pull it in and hold it close.
What beauty do you surround yourself with? Art? Nature? Food? Something else?
And if you’d like to get your hands on some of the bodacious beauty we grow, come over here and check out how you can buy flowers from us.
Take care,
Renée and Dave
